Hi, my name is Maz.

My husband Dan, recently suffered a cycling accident whilst on the way to work resulting in a serious hip break that required surgery with a long recovery ahead of him. Inevitably, Dan is off work unpaid and unable to work for at least 3 months. Due to the nature of the break, he is high risk of needing a full hip replacement if things don’t heal as they should which ultimately it will be even longer before he can return to work.

Whilst we are on a waiting list for carers to attend to him at our home, I have also had to take unpaid leave from my job to care for him full time, helping with daily tasks, appointments, physiotherapy, and everything else that comes with such a major injury.

For all who don’t know us we are both hardworking people who have spent our entire lives working and providing without ever relying on others, and asking for help is something we truly thought we’d never have to do.

Right now, we’re facing a real struggle to cover essential bills, rent and overall household costs – while we just have SSP coming in.

We understand it being this time of year, we all are struggling but any contribution, no matter how small, would make a huge difference and help us get through these difficult months until we can both get back on our feet and return to work.
