- Hello my name is John, father of Liam. When Liam was 6 years old he was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne is a 100% fatal muscular disease that primarily affects boys. People with duchenne become weaker as they grow older until their muscle eventually stops functioning. This is a slow and painful disease for everyone involved. There is currently no cure but alot of progress has been made.
One of the things Liam loves most in the world is dancing. As a parent, there is no greater pain than watching something your child loves being slowly taken away from him.
With each passing day, it becomes harder and more physically demanding for Liam to dance.
Please help Liam and all other children living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy have the chance to continue doing what they love in the future.
CureDuchenne is a nonprofit organization dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and improving the lives of those affected. They fund critical research, support families, and accelerate treatments that help give children with Duchenne a longer and better quality of life.
