About the Teacher:
Guru Chitra Nagraj is a renowned Carnatic vocalist and music educator based in Sydney, Australia. With over 42 years of experience, she has established herself as a respected figure in the Indian classical music community. Guru Chitra holds several prestigious music qualifications, including a Certificate and Diploma in Carnatic vocal music from Telugu University, as well as a Sangeet Visharad in Carnatic music from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya. She has also trained in Hindustani vocal music, earning a Praveshika Poorna degree from the Akhil BharatiyaGandharva Mahavidyalaya.
Guru Chitra's professional accomplishments are equally impressive. She is a registered artist with All India Radio and the Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh. She has also founded the Sruti Music and Cultural Academy, which is registered with the Registrar of Societies in Andhra Pradesh. Guru Chitra's musical prowess has been showcased through numerous concerts and performances. She has regularly performed on AIR and TV programs, both solo and with her students. She has also been invited to perform at prestigious events organized by the Department of Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, as well as various festivals and marriage functions across India and abroad. Recognizing her contributions to Indian classical music, Guru Chitra has been a member of the Film Censor Board, Government of India, for the past 15 years. She has also released a devotional CD titled "Ramanjaneya Ganamrudam."
Guru Chitra's dedication to music education is evident in her work. She has taught Carnatic vocal, devotional music, Sanskrit shlokas, and bhajans to students of all levels, from basic to advanced. Additionally, she has established the Hamsadhwani School of Music in Sydney, Australia, to share her knowledge and passion for Indian classical music with a global audience.
