Running for 90 Years of Strength
This year, I’m running a half marathon in honor of my grandma’s 90th birthday. Instead of candles and cake, we’re celebrating by doing something unforgettable: I’ll be pushing her in a race wheelchair across all 13.1 miles.
But this isn’t just about a milestone birthday.
We’re dedicating this run to raising awareness and support for Crohn’s disease, a cause that means everything to our family. My uncle, my grandmother’s son, Daniel Tompkins Jr., battled complications from Crohn’s his entire life. He faced challenges most people will never fully understand, and his strength left a permanent mark on all of us. Losing him was heartbreaking, and we carry his memory with us every day.
This race is for him.
For my Granny, who has endured both joy and unimaginable loss.
And for every family navigating life with Crohn’s disease.
We’re raising funds to support research, treatment, and those currently fighting this condition. If you feel moved to sponsor our run, know that you’re not just supporting a race. You’re supporting resilience, remembrance, and hope.
Thank you for being part of something bigger than 13.1 miles.
