Supporting Communities to Create Agents of Change

Tax deductible

We Are Better Together Warren Daniel Hairston Project (WAB2G), is a grassroots organization that connects and heals women and girls affected by homicide and incarceration to prevent cycles of violence and victimization.

My name is Ruth Rollins, founder of WAB2G. My goal is to interrupt the cycles of ongoing harm by making available resources and support to educate, advocate and heal communities.

I believe as a community, we need to be held accountable for our actions, lead with compassion, and have empathy. In today's world, when dramatic accounts happen, we as a community create a stigma for those involved. When a loved one has been affected by homicide and incarceration, that stigma is placed on the family that isolates them from receiving much-needed love and support.

I experienced this stigma first hand when I lost my son, Warren Daniel Hairston in an unsolved homicide and another to incarceration. I received love and support for Warren but suffered in silence for my other son. The shame of this stigma made me feel isolated & unworthy like I didn’t belong because my child created harm. There wasn’t a safe space for me to talk openly with people willing to listen, I dealt with grief and anger alone.

I created WAB2G’s mission based on the pain and stigma I went through. WAB2G breaks the cycles of violence and creates a non-judgment zone so that others impacted by the trauma of violence can understand and be aware of its challenges. We create opportunities for growth and restorative justice in our neighborhoods while healing ourselves, our families, and our communities.

With your help, we will expand our services to provide support on a holistic level. We will be able to forge community partnerships that will support focalized areas like support for men of all ages and assist in a re-entry program, focus groups for young people who have been impacted directly and indirectly by trauma, professional therapy, retreats, expand programming, and staff.

We've begun partnering with established local communities based & national organizations to provide additional services to meet the needs of our community.

Currently, WAB2G provides food assistance, transportation assistance, home assistance, recovery referrals, and therapy.

With your support, we can continue to heal our communities. Together, we are breaking down the barriers and stigmas that contribute to the cycles of trauma and violence in our communities. This is why we truly believe that We Are Better Together.
