Most of you have been keeping up through Facebook but I will try to sum it up here for everyone. COLLIER brought the most beautiful life into this world Thursday. After what should’ve been a smooth induction starting on Tuesday 5/26 it failed and ended in C-section Thursday 5/28. Baby Ellie made her arrival and Collier was purely over the moon excited. A glowing new mother. What should’ve been the best moment of their lives turned into every family’s worst nightmare and a phone call no friend wants to wake up to. Collier had some blood pressure and fever complications post surgery and was receiving some oxygen as well. For nearly 4 whole days she did everything in her power to provide Ellie with the best care a mother possibly could, while eagerly awaiting discharge. What no one knew at the time was fluid had been building up and leaking into her lungs. Things took a turn for the worse throughout the night Sunday and by Monday morning Collier was placed on a life support machine, all the while her daughter Ellie was preparing for discharge the same day without her mommy. Ellie went home with maternal family nearly 4 hours away. Collier’s mother, Christy, and I stayed close to Collier, along with a couple others that have made sure Christy nor Collier are alone through any of this. Christy is facing something no mother wants to go through, I can’t imagine. Collier had a very rocky two nights in CCU at North Mississippi medical center, where essentially they had given up hope—as she was maxed out on their machines and there was simply nothing else they could do for her up there the doctor told us. She had developed ARDS, acute respiratory distress syndrome, life threatening.
As her friend of 15+ years, Collier is a sister to me and I’ll forever be the sister she never had. There wasn’t a day we didn’t talk, and honestly I’m still talking to her now because I know she will come back to respond when she gets the rest her lungs and body so desperately need. I would and will do anything for her and the family; At that very moment I would’ve crawled into that bed and taken her place if I could. She does not deserve this. It hurt having to leave her side but I will do everything I can for her and the family. This is me doing that. COLLIER thankfully was transferred to a bigger hospital down south, UMMC!! She is settled in the MICU on life support and getting the absolute best care possible! They immediately got to work and desperately searched for answers. No one is giving up on her. The medical team here is fighting for her, her family and friends are fighting for her, strangers are fighting for her, but most importantly Collier is fighting to get home to her baby, Elinor Rose, who is now one week old and hasn’t felt her mother’s touch since Sunday. Baby is doing amazing and is her momma’s twin I swear it, I could’ve held her all day long. At such a young age I can not imagine the confusion that sweet girl is feeling, but a baby knows their mother and can feel when they’re not around! Ellie is in the next best hands and family is doing everything they can to provide the love and care she needs, while Collier is 100 miles away in critical condition fighting to get back to them. It puts a lot of strain on the family/friends helping. Let’s take some of that worry of their backs by helping with gas, food, hotel, baby supplies, etc. A few meals have been scheduled to be delivered to the Hollandale household as well, anything helps. I’d be happy to provide an address if needed! There are multiple people making sure that Collier and her family are never alone! I have personally been keeping updates posted on Facebook for all those rallying behind Collier; many people have reached out asking about donating in so many different ways—this go fund me being just one of the options for all those that feel it in their hearts to do so. There’s cashapp and Venmo as well. People have asked so I will include this info as well—Baby is currently on formula Similac 360 total care blue label; pampers or huggie brand diapers size Newborn or size 1; any non-scented brand wipes. Meal wise family is not picky and anything is appreciated. {again reach out to me privately and I can provide the address to send or deliver anything}
Collier is so strong and in our hearts we know that she will make it out of this. SHE IS FIGHTING SO HARD TO MAKE IT HOME. Ellie needs her mother and so do we. Please continue to pray very hard for her as this is a day by day situation, every minute counts and the doctors are doing everything they can for Collier. As long as things continue progress in the right direction, this will be a long road for Collier and all those involved not to mention the hospital bills and recovery that will come after. On behalf of the family updates will come from Hannah’s facebook. Thank you for the prayers as they have not gone unnoticed by any one of us! Keep them coming because He indeed hears them and will prevail ! ❤️
