Over the past few years, our family has watched Cody face an incredibly difficult health journey following the failure of his first kidney transplant. After years of complications, countless appointments, and long stretches of uncertainty, we are beyond grateful to share that Cody received a lifesaving kidney transplant through a rare three-way paired exchange, a process that allowed Ashley to donate her kidney on his behalf so he could receive a better-matched kidney in return. The transplant took place on Wednesday, November 12th.

This transplant has given Cody a renewed chance at life, and our family is profoundly thankful for the medical teams, the donor chain, and the community that has been praying for and supporting him along the way.

While the transplant is an incredible blessing, the reality is that the financial burden surrounding this type of major medical event is overwhelming. Even with insurance, many of the costs associated with a transplant including medications, ongoing monitoring, treatments, and the accumulation of bills over the past several years are not fully covered. As Cody begins the long recovery process, Stephanie will continue to support him day to day, and both of them will be navigating significant ongoing expenses as they work toward healing and stability.

We are creating this GoFundMe to help ease some of that weight and give them the space to focus on recovery without the constant worry of mounting medical costs. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Cody and Stephanie through this next chapter.

Cody was discharged from ICU following his transplant on Tuesday, November 18th. He is home recovering with Stephanie and their dogs by his side.
