Rallying Around Coach Rashad Rhodes

If you have a child who has played sports in our community or has run through the fields of the Pali Rec Center, chances are you know Coach Rashad Rhodes.

Rashad is so much more than a coach. He is truly the heart of youth sports in our community. He has coached at our local schools, Pali Rec Center, sports camps, birthday parties, and has continued to show up wherever kids need encouragement, guidance, and someone in their corner.

Now it’s our turn to show up for Coach Rashad, his wife, and six children.

Rashad is currently battling a serious case of cellulitis in his left leg that has required hospitalization and multiple surgeries. His recovery will be challenging, and will need to remain off his feet while his body heals.

As fall sports begin, the timing makes this especially difficult. Rashad recently started a new job with American Airlines at LAX, working the graveyard shift while continuing to coach and support his family. With an extended recovery ahead of him, returning to either of these physically demanding jobs will not be easy.

For someone who has built his life around being active, working hard, supporting his family, and being there for our kids, suddenly being unable to work is an enormous burden.

This is where our community can make a difference.

We are raising funds to help Rashad and his family with medical costs, lost income, everyday household expenses, and the financial strain that comes with an unexpected and prolonged recovery.

Coach Rashad has shown up for our children over and over again. He has cheered them on, picked them up when they were discouraged, celebrated their successes, and given so much of himself to our community.

Now it’s our turn to cheer for him.
