Friends,
We’re reaching out on behalf of our dear friend Christine, because she would never ask for help on her own — but she deeply needs it now.
On October 30, Christine and her younger daughter Mary were involved in a serious car accident while turning into STARS Charter School. A large work van loaded with heavy equipment struck them on Mary’s side, spinning their car and pushing it nearly 80 feet into a ditch. Miraculously, Mary walked away with only bumps and bruises — even the officers said it looked as though angels had been protecting her.
Christine’s injuries, however, were severe. She was airlifted to Duke, where surgeons placed hardware to stabilize multiple fractures in her pelvis and sacrum. Her recovery is expected to take up to a year. She cannot drive, cannot work, and has been navigating this long, painful recovery as a single mom trying to stay strong for her daughters.
Her older daughter, Ella, is a junior at Union Pines High School — a bright, hardworking student just beginning college visits when this accident struck. Her younger daughter, Mary, is in 7th grade at STARS Charter and is so grateful for the teachers, friends, and dance community who have been supporting her and lifting her spirits during this difficult time.
To make matters even more difficult, Christine’s car was completely totaled, and she had been between jobs at the time. She was also in the middle of preparing to put her home on the market so she could downsize to something more affordable — a move she can no longer physically manage or prepare for due to her injuries. What was meant to be a step toward financial stability has now become another source of stress, as she is unable to pack, organize, or relocate.
Without a vehicle, she cannot travel to medical appointments or return to work once she’s medically cleared. Christine has been pushing through her recovery with courage — celebrating small victories like transitioning off painkillers and finally being able to climb the stairs to her bedroom. But she cannot do this alone.
Why We’re Asking for Help
Christine needs support to cover:
Medical costs not covered by insurance
A safe replacement vehicle, so she can regain independence and return to work
Basic living expenses while she is unable to work
Support for her daughters, especially as Ella prepares for college and Mary pursues a passion for dance
Stability during a time that has been physically, emotionally, and financially overwhelming
Assistance navigating housing needs after the accident halted her plans to downsize to a more affordable home
Our Goal
We are hoping to raise $8,000–$10,000 to help Christine rebuild her life and give her family the security they need as she heals.
Christine has always been someone full of humor, hope, and strength — and with your support, she can focus on healing and getting back to being the mom her daughters adore.
Please donate if you can, share if you will, and keep Christine and her girls in your prayers. Every bit of support makes a real difference.
Thank you for showing Christine that she is not alone.
With love and gratitude,
