Supporting Chris in his battle with cancer

Please join us in supporting Chris Geels and his family in their time of need.

Recently, Chris was having stomach pain, so his wife Joyce took him to the local hospital. There they did a complete blood work up, as well as imaging where they found some concerning spots. He was transferred to another hospital for a second opinion where they did upper & lower scopes to biopsy the lower esophageal/gastric tumor, and a secondary biopsy to determine spots on the stomach lining. Chris was diagnosed with Stage 4 gastric cancer, that has metastasized to the stomach lining.

The average overall cost per patient with gastric cancer, 18 mos after diagnosis, is estimated to be around $96,571! With an average out of pocket maximum that resets at the beginning of the year, and with multiple procedures, surgery, chemo, travel expenses, missed work, etc….the expenses are already overwhelming and ongoing into 2024. Our goal is to help relieve some of their burden.

Chris was hesitant to allow a fundraiser for him because that’s not who he is. He would rather help others, than asking others for help. If you’ve had the pleasure of knowing Chris, you know he’s a laid back guy with a little bit of ornery. He’s a hardworking, caring man that loves his family very much.
