Hi everyone! My name is Issy and I’m currently volunteering at a small primary school in Arusha, Tanzania. The school has 120 students, 4 local teachers, 2 volunteer teachers, and 1 incredible founder who keeps everything running.

The children I get to teach every day are some of the most hardworking, intelligent, and resilient kids I’ve ever met. But their learning conditions are extremely tough. Most students share pencils and one rubber for an entire class, and many of our classrooms have no roof, smashed windows, dirt floors, and broken furniture. 

And yet, these kids LOVE to learn. They come to school every day smiling and eager, because education is power.

This fundraiser will go directly towards improving their classrooms and giving them the basics that can help them thrive. Depending on how much is raised, this may look like:

To put it into perspective: $20 AUD can help many local families with their rent, and $50 AUD can feed a family of four for an entire month. That means that even a small donation here can go an incredibly long way.

My goal to begin with is $750 AUD, and every dollar will be used directly for the students’ education and learning environment.
