Supporting Child Autism UK & autistic children
Hi, I’m John, 65 a father and grandfather and I love walking!
I live in the Midlands and walk every day, I also walk regularly in Devon & Cornwall. In the last few years I’ve walked stretches of the Camino De Santiago and Via Francigena.
In June this year I embark on my toughest challenge to date, walking the 630 miles of the South West Costal Path. I’m starting in mid-June for a 53 day adventure, covering Devon, Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset ending 9th August. I start and finish the walk at Hartland Quay, North Devon, and have various family members and friends joining me for parts of the journey. I feel fortunate to be able to undertake the walk, so want to make a difference by giving something back too.
My grandson Mannix (soon to be 6 years old) is autistic, so I have decided to dedicate my walk to raising funds for Child Autism UK.
Mannix is fortunate to have wonderful parents and family, along with a very supportive and caring school, but not all autistic children are so lucky. This is where Child Autism UK come in, who provide the only dedicated Autism Helpline in the UK.
A MESSAGE FROM CHILD AUTISM UK
Child Autism UK is a unique charity, specializing in working with autistic children, their families, and carers. We provide the only national autism helpline in the UK. The charity has two roles - our office gives advice, information, and support to parents of autistic children, while our clinical staff deliver Learning & Behaviour Support services and training courses throughout the UK. As a small organisation, we pride ourselves on giving families ‘the personal touch’ and yet having a highly experienced and qualified team available. Our helpline is supported entirely by voluntary donations and so we really appreciate lovely people like John, who come up with such imaginative ways to support our work. Thanks a million, John!
