Supporting Taylor thru Cheryl's Hospice & Passing
Donation protected
UPDATE: This isn't the update I hoped to be giving you guys. I'm absolutely shattered to even be writing this and have very little mental energy for a long write-up. It has only been 10 weeks since we thought this was a hernia, however... Mom has chosen to go on Hospice as things are progressing quickly.
This GoFundMe will now help me cover my bills while I spend what little time I have left with my Mom. It will also go to funeral costs and the leftover medical bills once she has passed.
I....I don't even know what to say beyond this currently... Other than thank you...To everyone who shared, donated or even reached out. I'm going to be a wreck for the foreseeable future and appreciate any and all support.
Taylor
My heart breaks as I write this to you:
On July 27th, 2022 my Mom, Cheryl (Tomala) Annino, was misdiagnosed with a Hiatal Hernia in her esophagus. They scheduled her an Endoscopy over 6 months later on February 3rd. Between July 27th and January, she was in urgent care and Emergency Rooms 3-4 times for increasing pain when eating. Finally, on January 3rd, she went to Noble Hospital in Westfield. They called around to get her a sooner endoscopy appointment and scheduled her that Friday, January 6th there at Noble.
When I went to speak with the doctor about their findings (and pick her up because she had been under anesthesia for the procedure)...the doctor informed us it wasn't a hernia, she had a tumor. Esophageal Cancer. They scheduled her for an appointment on January, 27th with an oncologist. We never made it to that appointment because she was rushed to Baystate, on January 25th, 2023 for Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, malnourishment and dehydration. She would spend the next 3 weeks there getting tests run and stents put in to help with food intake.
While at Baystate we learned the cancer was also in her liver and an adrenal above her kidney. Making this Stage 4. She is currently at Mass General Hospital in Boston, where we just learned Saturday, February 25, after a PET scan, that it has spread to lymph nodes and the lining of her stomach. She has an appointment with an Oncologist at Dana Farber on March 10th as long as she is outpatient by then. Once she is outpatient we will also hopefully be able to begin Vitamin C infusions at the clinic I found in New Hampshire. I was originally waiting to make a GoFundMe until I knew the out-of-pocket expenses associated with the Infusion treatments. However, the last 7 weeks have been nonstop procedures, changes in care and decisions to make. I am also her Health Care Proxy, so when she has been unable to advocate for herself, I need to be available to be there.
With this incredibly fast progression of her diagnosis, I have been by her side through it all and it's starting to take a toll financially. The money raised through this will go to help with gas, lodging, parking (in Boston), food, any uncovered medical bills and towards her care at home. If the clinic will still take her for infusions, it will help with that as well. It will also help Scott and I cover some of our bills since I have been only working part-time to be with her. I am not eligible for FMLA until October because I just used it last year to stay home for Scott's accident. While I hate to ask for help yet again, I am out of options. If you read this far I am incredibly grateful. Thank you for reading, sharing, donating or even reaching out to me. I am beyond exhausted and absolutely devastated. Any form of support and love right now is so so so SO appreciated. Thank you in advance for everything.
