Hi everyone, my name is Maddie, and I’m asking for help in supporting someone who means alot to me — Candice. She may be my sister-in-law’s sister, but to me she’s family and a friend all in one.

Candice is one of the strongest people I know. Nine years ago, she fought through leukemia and came out the other side with the kind of gratitude and quiet resilience that stays with you forever. None of us ever imagined she would be facing another battle—but just recently, Candice was diagnosed with breast cancer.

Her treatment plan is already underway. Candice will be traveling to Hamilton ,45 minutes each way for appointments, tests, and treatments. She will have family members and friends taking time off work to get her around when she’s not well, all while navigating the emotional and physical toll that comes with a diagnosis like this. She’ll need to take an unknown amount of time off work, and although she will receive EI, it only covers about 55% of her income. With rent, bills, travel expenses, and the basic cost of living, it’s simply not enough to keep her afloat during this time.

Candice didn’t ask for this GoFundMe—I suggested it, because I know how hard it is to worry about money when all you should be focusing on is your health and healing. She deserves the chance to rest, recover, and fight without the added stress of wondering how she’s going to make ends meet.
