On November 8, 2023, Caleb Harness's life changed in an instant due to a tragic commercial roofing accident. Found paralyzed from the shoulders down, with an SPI injury at C4-C5, Caleb's indomitable spirit has been a beacon of hope amidst the toughest of challenges. After an intense stint in the ICU and relentless efforts at Madonna Rehabilitation Center in Nebraska, Caleb has made remarkable strides. His journey of healing has seen him regain the ability to breathe independently, eat solid food, and initiate movement in his arms and legs – small victories in the face of overwhelming odds.

As Caleb prepares to return home on February 1st, his journey is far from over. The path to recovery is paved with both hope and hardship. Essential durable medical equipment is critical for Caleb's daily care and continued rehabilitation. This includes a specialized hospital bed, an electric wheelchair equipped with a head array (Caleb currently cannot use his arms or hands), a floor lift for safe transfers, and a standing frame machine to aid in regaining balance and strength. He will also need a wheelchair-accessible van to get to and from rehab and appointments, and his parents' home will need major modifications to make it accessible for Caleb. This is only what is needed to get him home. Ongoing costs will be much more significant.

Unfortunately, bureaucratic hurdles have added to the challenge. Workmen’s Comp has denied Caleb’s claim, and insurance discrepancies have left a significant void in coverage for necessary care and equipment. This is where we need your compassion and generosity.
