Supporting Brayden's Recovery

Donation protected
Friends, family and wider community,

We reach out today with a call for help. Our dear friends, Jill and Larry Blocker have experienced the unimaginable. On Nov 3rd their son Brayden attempted to take his life, was flown to FFX hospital, and he has been under the best care of the doctors and nurses for the past month. For those of you who don’t know Brayden, he is a son, brother, nephew, cousin, teammate, and friend to many. He is a senior at Kettle Run HS, plays lacrosse, is a unified special education member that supports student with special needs, and he may have even made you a sub at Firehouse Subs in Warrenton.

Brayden has been undergoing treatment for his TBI and the road to recovery has been extremely challenging. He has suffered from swelling of the brain, high fevers, seizures, two aneurysm’s, a PEG tube infection and meningitis. He was placed on a ventilator, has had 9 blood transfusions, a tracheotomy, three stomach surgeries and the antibiotics and medicines are too many to count. The journey to his recovery will be long and he has recently been accepted into the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, GA.
The costs that the family will incur from these medical procedures and all that is impacted by this is unimaginable. Even with insurance the medical bills are and will be overwhelming.

The Blockers have always been in support of everyone around them. When we asked them what they needed at the start of all of this they responded with “Feed the hospital staff!” They are the first to ask what others need and are consistently donating their money, time and energy out of the goodness of their hearts. We were insistent on creating this GoFundMe for them and they have finally cooperated and agreed to allow us to do this.

We’re asking today for your help in supporting Brayden, and his family, through this incredibly tough time. If the Blockers kindness, generosity and love of life has ever touched you, please consider taking this time to show that love back in their time of need.

We are all so lucky to be a part of the Blocker’s community. This is our chance to do something together, to rally and support them, so that Brayden and his family can heal.

And finally, in whatever version of prayer you practice, please hold Brayden and his family in your hearts. Keep the good intentions and healing love flowing so that we can have him back soon!

With our deepest gratitude,
The Blocker’s Support team
