As many of you know, I lost my brother Grant in July in a hiking accident in the Bighorn National Forest. When we learned he was missing, Justin and I immediately flew to Wyoming to be on the ground with the search and rescue team. Every member of the search team and the Bighorn County Sheriff’s Office showed incredible kindness, dedication, and compassion during an unimaginably difficult time. I’ve linked an article that shares more about his trip and their efforts.
The past few months have been filled with grief—both my own and the weight of how deeply Grant’s death has impacted so many people who loved him. Running has become one way I process that grief. Grant had planned to run the Atlanta Marathon with me this year on March 1st, and although he won’t be beside me, I will still run in his honor.
This year, I hope to use that run to give back. I am raising money to support the Bighorn Search and Rescue—the same team that never gave up hope of finding my brother and who willingly put their own lives at risk in the process.
If you love nature, hiking, or have someone in your life like my brother Grant who finds peace on the trail, please consider donating to support this vital work. Your generosity helps ensure these teams can continue showing up for families like ours when it matters most.
Every contribution—no matter the size—directly supports the Bighorn search and rescue team and honors Grant’s love for the outdoors.
