Dear friends and family,
I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not to post something like this, because asking for help feels incredibly uncomfortable. But so many people have reached out asking how they can support my family, and after the last few months, I realized it was time to accept that help.
As many of you know, my dad, has been struggling with severe ulcerative colitis for the past three months. What began as flare-ups quickly escalated into five trips to the hospital with most of his time being spent in the ICU, life-threatening bleeds, and multiple immunotherapy treatments. Despite everything, his condition continued to worsen, and 2am Tuesday morning he underwent emergency surgery to remove his entire colon at Scripps in Encinitas.
He is currently recovering, but the road ahead is long. My dad has already been out of work since the beginning of September and will likely be unable to return for at least another six weeks. My mom has been doing everything she can to continue working while also taking care of him.
This has been incredibly overwhelming emotionally, physically, and financially, which is why—after a lot of hesitation—I decided to create this GoFundMe. I truly wish I didn’t have to ask, but any support during this time would mean more than I can say. Whether it’s donating, sharing the link, or keeping my dad in your positive thoughts and prayers, I appreciate it deeply.
Thank you for checking in, for loving my parents, and for holding my family up during such a difficult time. We are hopeful, grateful, and taking it one day at a time.
Thank you so much for your consideration!
With love,
Lexi
