Hi, my name is Shawn, and Beverly, the owner of The BiZee Bird Store, is my mom. I’m helping set this up on her behalf after a fire caused significant damage to the store and her home on December 17.
The most important thing to say first is that no one was injured, including the birds. We are incredibly grateful to Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue for their fast response, for putting out the fire, and for safely rescuing all 28 birds in the home. Their efforts made a terrifying situation much better, and we can’t thank them enough.
Beyond that, we’re still processing what this means. The fire resulted in major loss—inventory, equipment, and the space itself. Right now, there aren’t clear answers about what comes next. This fundraiser isn’t about promises or timelines. It’s about helping with the immediate impact and giving my mom some breathing room while she figures out next steps.
BiZee Bird has been her life’s work for years. Many people don't know this, but she started breeding birds and making bird toys when I was 13. She has been operating under the name BiZee Bird since I was in high school. And the store itself has been open 21 years. The business represents an incredible amount of care, responsibility, and commitment—especially when it comes to proper parrot care. Losing so much all at once has been overwhelming for my mom.
Funds raised will help with:
- Fire-related cleanup and damage expenses
- Replacing essential equipment and inventory that were lost
- Covering immediate costs and obligations during this disruption
- Reducing financial pressure during a very uncertain time
If you’ve ever supported BiZee Bird, learned something there, or simply believe in helping small businesses during unexpected hardship, any support truly means a lot.
If you’re not able to donate, sharing this page helps just as much.
Thank you for taking the time to read and for supporting my mom during an incredibly difficult moment.
