Supporting Belen on Her Breast Cancer Journey

Donation protected
In November, our beloved friend Belen Kimble was diagnosed with breast cancer. What followed was a whirlwind of appointments — countless mammograms, MRIs, CT scans, and biopsies — and then urgent action with the incredible medical specialists at Robina Hospital.

The first chapter of Belen’s breast cancer journey has already begun. She has undergone a double mastectomy and lymph node clearance on her left side, and some removed from the right. Belen is now one week post-surgery and at home, beginning a long six-week recovery period. In the coming weeks, she will receive her tissue sample results, which will determine the course of her ongoing treatment that will include Chemotherapy and, radiation and hormone therapy.

Unfortunately, much of the treatment and support Belen will need moving forward is not covered by Medicare. This includes essential allied health care, therapies, supplements, and other vital supports that will help her body heal and recover as strongly as possible. This is where Belen needs our help.

Anyone who knows Belen knows she is built tough — strong, resilient, and fiercely positive. This will be a long journey, but in her own words:

“It’s going to be a freaking rodeo — but it’s not my first, and I’m buckled up and ready for the ride.”

Belen is an inspiration, one of my best friends, and truly a best friend to the worldwide surfing community. She has been a constant source of positivity, inspiration, and light — spreading aloha, stoke, and happiness wherever she goes. She is a guiding force in female surfing and longboarding; the sport simply wouldn’t be the same without her pushing limits, opening doors, and encouraging women everywhere to follow their own paths.

Beyond the waves, Belen is an incredible mother to her son, Akai, and a soul whose spirit soars high, always making the world a better place.

This is our chance to give something back to Belen, who has given so much to so many. Every donation — no matter the size — will help support Belen through her recovery and get her back on her board, back in the saddle and back doing what she loves.

Thank you for the love, support and generosity- Belinda Baggs.
