Supporting Bears in Loving Memory of Chris Rouze

Hi, my name is Claudia, and I’m creating this fundraiser in loving memory of my mom, Chris Rouze.

My mom passed away at the age of 63 on March 3rd, 2025, in her home. She had a deep appreciation for nature and a special love for animals, especially bears. She admired bears for their strength, their power, their mystery, and their unexpected softness. For every birthday, Mother’s Day, and Christmas, she received bear-themed gifts. Over the years, her home filled with bear decorations and artwork, so much so that it became a running joke in our family.

I’m raising funds to support the rescued bears at The Wild Animal Sanctuary to honor her life and the happiness she found in these incredible animals. The Wild Animal Sanctuary is a Colorado nonprofit that specializes in rescuing and caring for large predators that are being ill-treated, for which their owners can no longer care, or which might otherwise be euthanized. The Sanctuary currently houses approximately 156 Black Bears and over 43 Grizzly Bears that were rescued from illegal or abusive situations. Every dollar raised will be donated in her name to help care for the rescued bears at the sanctuary to ensure they live out their days in peace and comfort.
