Supporting Barbara Hartman After John’s Passing

Donation protected
It is with fond remembrance and loving hearts that we announce the passing of Ervin John Hartman, affectionately known as John, who left this world on July 6th, 2025, at the St. Lukes Carbon Campus in Lehighton, PA. John, a cherished man known for his humor, handiness, and gentle spirit, was born in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, on June 12th, 1956, and was a beacon of light throughout his 69 years of life.

John's life was rich with the love of his family and the respect of his community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara (Smith) Hartman, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring love story since their marriage on March 22, 1975. The legacy of their devotion to one another is carried on through their daughter, Kerri Garner of Jim Thorpe, and their son, Richard Hartman of Lehighton. John also leaves behind his adoring mother, Norma (Stuckley) Hartman of Lehighton, his dedicated siblings, Sally and Michelle Hartman, along with brothers Jeff and Guy Hartman, all of Lehighton. His spirit will continue to live on in the joy and memories shared with his five cherished grandchildren: Carlie, Phillip, and Makayla Garner, and Cassidy and Alexa Hartman.

John's father, Ervin R. Hartman, predeceased him, leaving memories of a family united in strength and character, a foundation upon which John built his life.

A lifelong resident of the area, John contributed to the community through his work in construction with the former Alpine Builders of Jim Thorpe and with ICA in Lehighton. His knack for building and repairing was not just his profession but also his passion, and his handiwork can be seen and felt in many structures and homes throughout the region.

To have known John was to experience life with a bit more joy and a sense of security, knowing that he was always there to lend a hand or share a smile. His passing leaves a void in the fabric of our community and in the hearts of all who loved him. As we say goodbye to Ervin John Hartman, we celebrate a life lived fully, a life of impact, and a life that was, quite simply, a joy to be a part of. John's memory and the love he shared will be held dear forever.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held on July 6, 2026 marking the one year anniversary of his passing.
