Supporting baby Teagan and the Crumley Family

Hello, my name is Jamie and this Gofundme is for my very best friend Megan Crumley as well as her husband, James, two daughters at home, Scarlett (12) and Neven (2), and specifically their newest baby girl, Teagan Rose.

Teagan was born full term on 11/21 - a perfect and beautiful addition to the Crumley family. Teagan is also blessed with an extra 21st chromosome, giving her Down syndrome, which only furthers the absolute joy she will bring to Megan’s family and the world.

The night after she was born, Teagan suffered an aspiration event where she turned blue and several nurses and doctors rushed to her aid to get her breathing again. This event brought her to the NICU immediately where she fortunately recovered well, but continues to fight to overcome fluid in her lungs due to a VSD (Ventricular Septal Defect) or hole in her heart, which is the most common form of heart defect for babies with Trisomy 21.

In the coming months, Teagan will need open heart surgery to repair the defect. Time will tell when exactly the surgery will happen. For now, Teagan will remain in the NICU while they work to clear the fluid in her lungs and help her gain weight with her mother’s milk so she can be strong for surgery.

Please consider donating to this absolutely wonderful family as they find themselves with extra expenses with travel to and from the hospital daily, childcare at home for Scarlett and Neven, food on the go, and of course the medical expenses that continue to incur daily at the NICU and the upcoming costly surgery that Teagan will need.
