Our Baby’s Fight for Life

There are moments in life that change everything and for us, this was one of them. We are a family of 5, excited to add sweet baby boy!

But what started as excitement and dreams for our growing family quickly turned into fear and heartbreak when we were told our baby has been diagnosed with Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH), a rare and life-threatening condition.

CDH means that our baby’s diaphragm didn’t fully develop, leaving an opening that allowed organs like the stomach and intestines to move into the chest. Because of this, our baby’s lungs haven’t been able to grow the way they should. It’s something no parent is ever prepared to hear.

Since that day, our world has been filled with uncertainty. We don’t know exactly what will happen when our baby is born we only know that they will face an immediate fight to breathe, and a long, difficult road ahead. There will be surgery, ECMO, intensive care, and days or weeks where we can do nothing but hope, pray, and stay by his side.

As parents, all we want is to protect our child. But right now, so much is out of our control.

We are preparing for long hospital stays, possible travel for specialized care, time away from work, and overwhelming medical expenses. More than anything, we want to be fully present for our baby to hold his hand, to be there for every moment of his fight.
