Our community is grieving the heartbreaking and unexpected loss of Ashton Johnston, whose life was tragically taken far too soon in a kayaking accident. Ashton was a proud graduate of the Quilcene School District, a beloved son, a loyal friend, and most importantly, a devoted father.

Ashton was the cherished son of Chuck Johnston and Shana McNaughten, and the loving father of a beautiful one-and-a-half-year-old daughter who meant everything to him. Becoming a dad changed Ashton in the best ways. He spoke about his daughter with pride and love, and anyone who saw them together could feel the deep bond they shared. She was his world, and he dreamed of watching her grow, guiding her, and being there for every milestone in her life.

He also leaves behind two older brothers, a sister-in-law, and a beautiful niece who adored him. Ashton’s family was incredibly important to him, and he treasured the time spent laughing, supporting one another, and creating memories together that will now be held even closer.

Ashton lived life with his whole heart. He loved his family and friends fiercely and never missed a chance to remind people how much they mattered to him. He had a warmth about him that drew people in, and he was known for giving the kind of hugs that made you feel safe, cared for, and truly seen. Those hugs are something so many will miss forever.

He found joy in the outdoors, riding his motorcycle, and peace on the water, living each day with a sense of adventure and appreciation for life. Ashton created laughter, memories, and meaningful connections everywhere he went, leaving an impact that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

This fundraiser has been created to help cover the costs of Ashton’s Celebration of Life and to support his family during this incredibly difficult time. Any funds remaining after expenses will be placed into an account for his daughter by Ashton’s mother, helping ensure that a piece of her father’s love continues to support her future.
