Supporting April’s Journey Through a Double Lung Transplant
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Lisa, and I’m raising funds for one of the bravest and most generous souls I know-my sister April Johnston-Ulrich. April has lived with incredible resilience for the past 35 years, contending with a genetic lung disease called Alpha-One Anti-Trypsin Deficiency. Throughout these years, she has faced every challenge with grace and unwavering strength.
Five months ago, we received the life-changing news that April had been placed at the top of the list for a double-lung transplant. On September 1st, 2024, her call came. Lungs had become available, and with hope and courage, April and her husband, Kent, flew to Edmonton for the surgery, which took place on September 3rd.
Undergoing a double lung transplant is an immense and daunting procedure, both physically and emotionally. April approached it with remarkable bravery, determined to keep her positive spirit alive through every trial. Her courage has been truly inspiring. The love and support from her family, friends and colleagues has given her strength during this most difficult time, and she is deeply grateful to all who have walked this path alongside her.
This miracle would not have been possible without the selfless gift from an organ donor, whose legacy now lives on through April. We are profoundly thankful for the exceptional skill and compassion of the medical professionals who have supported her every step of the way.
April’s recovery is ongoing, and while the journey ahead is long and challenging, her progress so far has been nothing short of miraculous. With your generous support, we hope to ease some of the financial burden related to her uninsured medical needs as she continues to heal.
Thank you so much for your kindness and for being part of this incredible journey with April. With your help, she can overcome this chapter and continue to share her radiant spirit with the world.
