Supporting Angela's Future

Good day, 

 

My name is Hazel Barker, and I am seeking to raise funds for my daughter, Angela, to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYFL): Pathways to STEM camp this summer 2022. It is an immersive program in which students will be introduced to several STEM career opportunities. These include crime scene investigation (forensic science), engineering (bots &programming), and medicine (exploring the human anatomy). 

 

Per the selection and enrollment information, "NYFL Pathways to STEM was created to identify young students with academic and leadership potential - outstanding individuals representing a variety of backgrounds and possessing a broad range of interests and goals - and to stimulate and invigorate their natural curiosity to learn and discover. The program seeks the most mature and independent students possible within this young age group, and nominations are extended to students who have demonstrated these abilities. Educational advisors are asked to nominate those who can meet the challenge of our academic curriculum and who merit the distinction of a nomination." 

 

As you can see this is an opportunity that young leaders must be nominated for, and Angela's reading/ELA teacher recognizes her for the future scholar she is and decided she would be a great fit for this program. Angela has been an A student since she started school. Her teachers have always recognized something special in her. As her mom, of course, I knew it, but for others to see it as well I knew it was real. This is an opportunity that will allow Angela to explore two of the career fields she saw herself entering in the future, medicine and engineering. 

 

With this being said, I am currently raising funds to assist with Angela’s tuition for this program. The full price is $3,000 for a 6-day5-night experience. While not cheap, this is an amazing opportunity, hopefully, to be followed by many more that will follow her throughout her academic career. I am asking you, our village, to continue to support our future scholar on her journey to greatness. Whatever you give is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your support.
