Supporting Ana and Isabel
As many of you know, our dear friend John passed away unexpectedly while working on an election monitoring campaign for the Carter Center in Ethiopia . John’s passing has been a shock for his family and large community of friends who embraced him as a testament to the good in our world, demonstrated in his characteristic humility and quick and hearty laugh, fearlessness and commitment to peace and justice, wisdom and delightful storytelling abilities, love for his family and embrace of a large and diverse group of friends. John was a rare friend in the way he showed up for people: No doubt he’s been there for all of us in important ways at significant moments in our lives. It was an honor and a privilege to be counted among John’s friends. Our lives are all of a sudden very different, and for no one more than his soulmate and wife, Ana, sweet and gentle daughter Isabel, loving mother Amy and beloved brother Gerald.
So many of John’s beloved friends and members of his community have reached out to ask how they can help with Ana and Isabel’s well-being. John’s brother Gerald will announce ways in which we can contribute to Isabel’s 529 education fund. We hope to help Ana and Isabel with daily expenses in the nearer term through this supplementary fundraising campaign. You may choose to split your donations between the two. It is an incredibly sad and challenging time for John’s loved ones. We invite you to write up your memories of John for collection in another format in the near future. Announcements about a memorial to celebrate John’s life are forthcoming.
Love to you all,
Nancy and Bruce Chamberlain, Leslie Nazor Riversmith, and Brad Knabel
