Support Amber Lee's Recovery
Donation protected
Shé:kon, I am Callie Hill and I am raising funds to help a young community member after a serious car accident. On Thursday, January 19th, on their way to a family member's funeral Amber-Lee and her family were involved in a serious car accident with Amber Lee sustaining the most serious injuries. She was airlifted to St. Michaels Hospital in Toronto. Amber-Lee has several broken vertebrae in her neck and spine that will require surgery scheduled for Saturday, January 21st, where she will have to have rods and screws put in her back and neck. It is the hope of the surgeons that she will be mobile enough in three weeks to be moved to Belleville General Hospital, where they anticipate she will have to remain for three months.
Amber-Lee recently graduated with her Bachelor of Education, with Ontario College of Teachers certification and worked for several months at the Kawenna'on:we Primary School in Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory as the Grade 1 teacher.
The funds raised will be used for travel and living expenses for family members to stay by Amber-Lee's side during and after surgery. The funds will also be used to help offset lost wages for Amber-Lee and other family members as they continue to support her through her recovery for the next three months.
