Hello!
I'm raising money to go to St. Matthew's School of Veterinary Medicine in Grand Cayman to become a vet. The issue with this school is that it's not Title IV, so traditional student loans are not available. I tried to get a larger loan with a family member as a co-signer, but that loan was reduced. I'm still trying to get a co-signed personal loan from my credit union, but it does have to be paid back while I'm in school.
I have a little bit of family help in terms of gift money. I'm applying for remote overnight jobs as a veterinary nurse, which I am already licensed for. But I'm actually short quite a lot of money if I can't find work. (Auggie needs remote work too if you hear of any!)
I'm still wanting to see if I can go and fundraise before I go and while I'm there. I have made a deposit on my tuition and apartment and will get a little more that can get me through one semester. I got a good scholarship from the school, but vet school is still expensive. This place is less expensive than many schools, (but I'd have to get a lot more prerequisites to go to those schools, which costs a lot in money and time, yet regular loans would be an option.) There's a little bit of scholarship money available from outside sources for my second year and beyond.
I'm considering a second mortgage in the future as well before calling it quits on this dream. But that won't be enough. I'm hoping to cobble together gifts, scholarships, the loans I can get with my cosigner, and make it through.
I need a lot more than this fundraising goal, but I'm starting here.
