Hi Everyone,
In March of 2019, my mom passed away unexpectedly, bringing a shock to our family. One thing that my mom always truly wanted for me was a good group of friends and a good education. When I first attended college, I started at Coastal Carolina University, and it was then that I realized it wasn't my home.
My best friend from 7th grade introduced me to the University of Mary Washington, where I immediately felt at home. I loved the campus, the professors, and the people that I met there. I started my first year at Mary Washington last year, and I felt a great sense of security and hopefulness. I loved all my classes and the friends I made along the way.
In March of this year, I lost my dad. He was my best friend, my rock. He loved the fact that I was going to school and that I had a good community surrounding me. He would always ask me how school was, if I liked it, how my friends were doing, etc.
With the loss of my father, I am now considered an independent student. With that being said, I received less Federal Aid this year than I did last year. I am completely lost and by myself. I do not have a co-signer for student loans, and I cannot do them by myself. Unfortunately, if I don't come up with a little lump of money, I won't be able to attend Mary Washington this year, and I would be leaving behind the place and people that have helped me grow so much.
Anything helps, and I mean that.
Thank you so much again.
