Supporting Allison Baker
Donation protected
Our dear friends’ 12-year-old daughter, Allison Baker, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called germinoma, which was confirmed via an intracranial biopsy on June 23, 2022. This illness is having several resulting effects, including central diabetes insipidus (CDI), another rare condition defined by a deficiency in the hormone that triggers the kidneys to maintain proper fluid levels in the body, as well as an adrenal deficiency that needs to be supplemented on a daily basis. Allison is expected to be dealing with these conditions for the rest of her life.
Allison is a very sweet and intelligent young lady. So many of the things she loves to do, including visiting amusement parks to ride roller coasters, training for cross country, and even practicing her saxophone, have been taken away this summer by numerous scans, surgeries and hospital stays. Her family is confident there are better days ahead, but it’s going to be a long road to get there.
The wonderful oncology team at Riley Children’s Hospital has laid out what her family expects will be a very difficult treatment plan for Allison: multiple rounds of chemotherapy lasting three to four months, followed by out-of-state radiation treatment, five days a week for five to eight weeks. The associated costs of this treatment, including hospital bills, travel and lodging, will place a significant financial burden on the family.
We are establishing this fund in order to give people the opportunity to support the Baker family during this challenging time. All contributions to this fund will be used to cover the expenses as mentioned above. We are tremendously grateful for everyone’s generosity.
