Supporting Alison's Brain Tumour&Stroke recovery

Hi there family, friends and community.
We are friends of Alison Kenton.

We are reaching out for support and help for Alison during a time of adversity.

In October 2023, Alison was diagnosed with an extremely rare Neurocytoma, a brain tumour, it had become so large that she was a week away from the worst and was lucky she sought help when she did.

Thankfully, she had her tumour removed, however, during surgery she sadly had a stroke due to the complex position her tumour was in and how the surgeons had to remove it. This stroke was located in the centre of her brain and caused her to become paralysed down her right side. This meant she lost her independence, ability to complete everyday tasks on her own and changed everything for her.

Alison is a 23-year-old teacher, she was very active and healthy before all of this and suddenly her life changed over-night. She spent 7 weeks in 3 different hospitals, she had to re-learn how to walk and complete everyday tasks again, something which anyone would find difficult. This time has been stressful and anxiety inducing not knowing what the future was going to look like. She has made amazing progress so far with her right leg and has adapted to her new life, however, her right arm is still struggling to come back. To help her arm return (and more) she has been having daily physiotherapy. This daily physiotherapy has been one of the main things helping Alison keep positive about her future and to help her return back to things she loves such as netball and teaching.

Unfortunately, due to funding, she cannot continue to have daily therapy sessions and they have been changed to once a month. This is not enough for her to help with her rehabilitation, and she needs to pay for private sessions which are £85 each time. Alison has not been able to return to work yet and she does not have the financial situation to fund the physiotherapy sessions she needs. Financial support would alleviate the stress of trying to fund sessions. The funds raised would go directly to paying for these sessions for her so she can continue to make progress, progress that would help her life return to a new normal, aid her gradually return work and begin to feel happier and supported during such a difficult time. Anything you can give would be hugely appreciated.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and being in support of this amazing woman, she has been through such a difficult time and needs the support :)
