Help Lexie get back on her feet after hip surgery

Hey everyone!

I'm writing to see if you can help my friend Alexandra (Lexie) get back on her feet and recover from a devastating accident. Back in 2020, she and her dog were hit by a car while crossing the street, and she's been living in a medical nightmare ever since. Immediately after the accident, she was diagnosed with a significant labral tear in her left hip, whiplash, a fractured tibia, left hip bursitis and chondromalacia, post-concussive syndrome (TBI), and several other injuries. After consulting with multiple orthopedic surgeons, she was prescribed extensive physical therapy, platelet-rich-plasma (PRP) injections, and, ultimately, hip surgery. She had the hip surgery done in 2021 but, despite her being the most diligent person I know with her PT, the surgery failed. This past June, she started back at square one again with a necessary revision surgery plus 12 additional procedures, including a reconstruction of her left hip capsule and a bursectomy, to try and fix her hip. The aftercare has been grueling (she's in rehabilitation for 5+ hours every day).

The cost of these procedures, plus all the required rehabilitation and physical therapy, far exceeds the amount covered by her insurance, and the lengthy recovery period from her most recent operation in June has Alexandra unable to work for several months. She was also one year into school when the accident happened and was forced to drop out because she couldn't afford both her tuition and medical bills. The debt is so severe that she is starting to lose hope of ever returning, which breaks my heart. At this point, I know she's already tens of thousands of dollars in debt, and her remaining care will cost at least thirty thousand more.

Alexandra is such a fighter, and she's been through more in the past five years than anyone should ever have to go through in their entire life. She's had to work so hard to overcome many things, including physical abuse and multiple TBIs, yet her priority is always giving back to others. No matter what kind of day she's having, she's always there to support her friends and family. She used to have these big dreams about making an even greater difference in her community through the practice of law until this accident happened and she was forced to abandon her education.

My greatest wish is that we can do our part to support Alexandra so that she can continue receiving the care she needs without her having to drown in insurmountable debt. Her family doesn't have the means to help, and she doesn't have a partner. It's up to us to get her through this!
