Supporting African Art: My Birthday Wish

Dear friends,

As my birthday approaches, I find myself reflecting on the things that bring me the most joy and fulfillment in life. I don't usually celebrate birthdays with fanfare, and I'm not one for the spotlight, but this year I wanted to do something different. A passion that has always resonated deeply within me is my love for art, creativity, and the boundless talents that our world has to offer. And there is one artist in particular whose work has captivated me for some time — Qhamanande Maswana, a brilliant visual artist from South Africa.

Qhamanande's Artwork:

Qhamanande's paintings often depict the people he encounters in his day-to-day life in surreal purple hues as a way of portraying the strength of his people and their descendancy from royalty. His recent collection explores social stigma, identity, and socio-cultural trends, using the everyday man as subjects. His process usually involves approaching people in the streets, starting a conversation, and asking them to be part of his paintings. His inspiration as an artist is driven by a desire to document their individualities and narrate their stories through brush strokes.

The Campaign:

For my birthday this year, my dream is beyond traditional gifts and dinners. My goal is to acquire one of Qhamanande Maswana's paintings from his recent collection, a piece that embodies the essence of African artistry. The way these prices are looking though, I can't achieve this dream alone lol, which is why I'm reaching out to you, my favorite friends and supporters. Art collection is a hobby usually reserved for the old and obscenely wealthy, I want to be a part of changing that. What better way than mobilizing support from my community to purchase a painting by an African artist, to be displayed in the home of an African man.
