Supporting African American Students at Cal
Donation protected
At Cal African American Students are about 3% of the overall student body! Three percent!
Upon emailing staff at my school it was hinted that the issue could be more about the affordability of Cal than the acceptance into Cal. It is also a fact that only 86% of the black students accepted make it to graduation. It is our job to support each other and to be allies for those whose needs may be silenced!
This GoFundMe campaign will be shifted towards a scholarship we will implement for a collaborative effort to enrich and support African American students at Cal. Currently there is no way to directly donate to the African American Initiative Scholarship thru Cal because it is held by the SF Foundation. Feel free to contact me if you do want to directly donate and we will assist you with that. However, the money we have raised will go towards assisting Black students at Cal with financial needs by one of two methods: by my direct donation of these funds or by a scholarship implemented by summer of 2021. We are getting advice from African American Staff on how to implement a fund in accordance with prop 209 for this money to go into. Also please research prop 209! It is very important to know about.
A solution among many to having more black students at Cal is about affordability. If there is any time to help now is the time.
