Supporting Aedan’s Road to Recovery

Hey friends of Aedan! SJ Riley and Mickey Rickey here, two of Aedan’s close friends! We want to share with you a bit of what is happening to our sweet friend Aedan Shaughnessy.

As some of you may not be aware, in the Fall of 2022 our dear friend ADubz was diagnosed with cancer. He now is undergoing treatment at the Cancer Care Centre in Oshawa, he started his treatment on February 9th, 2023. As you can imagine this has great costs associated with it, not only the mental costs of dealing with this disease but also the cost of having to travel back and forth to doctors' appointments in Kingston, Oshawa and Toronto. As well as that, he is unable to work at this time as he is focusing on healing and getting better from this terrible disease. Cancer affects us all, and together we can help him beat this.

We love Adubz so much and want to support him in every way through this challenging time in his life that he will get through with our support. Anything helps as no one should have to halt their life and experience great financial difficulty to just try to get better.

SJ:

I met Aedan in 2020 online through a comedy chat group one of our mutual friends set up. In our short time as friends, we have become the best of friends, and I feel many others have had this experience as well. In 2021 we released a song together and filmed a music video. His humour, and his comradery is second to none, and he is the last person who ‘deserves’ to go through something like this. As no one deserves to go through this, he is such a ray of sunshine and has helped me through a lot in my life and I want to do anything to help him get through one of the hardest times in his life. Even through his cancer diagnosis, his spirits are still high, and his positive outlook is admirable.

Aedan, we are with you every step of the way through your healing journey. I feel a lot of people can relate to this story, of how Aedan is a ray of sunshine in their life. Please show him support through any financial contribution on his road to recovery.

Mickey:

Aedan and I met slinging vegan food together at the Food Forest Cafe in 2021 and quickly became friends, (as most people who meet Aedan often do). After finding out we were not only coworkers but practically neighbors our friendship quickly blossomed.

He and I no longer have the pleasure of working together because he continued focusing on uplifting his community through social work, however, Aedan continues to be a neighbor in the truest sense; offering a cup of sugar, late-night advice and helping in even the most minute of tasks like providing amazing laundry mat company.

Anyone who knows Aedan has witnessed the joy he brings to those around him, whether it be lifting the hearts of locals through performing comedic parodies and impersonations or heartfelt songs about the people and places he holds dear… his charisma and laughter are contagious and I feel lucky to know him! Together I’m optimistic we can return to Aedan the same support that he so often gives to the community he loves!
