Adam is truly one of the good ones.
Throughout his nursing career, Adam cared for patients in some of the most intense environments in healthcare, including emergency departments and surgical trauma ICUs. He eventually brought his expertise and compassion to the Wound Ostomy Team at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Adam has a remarkable gift for teaching. He built the skills and confidence of patients and families, as well as nurses and providers, and he did it with patience, kindness, and deep respect for the people around him.
Outside of the hospital, Adam’s greatest pride is his family. He and his wife Amy are raising 13 children, many of whom they lovingly adopted and who have special needs. Amy serves as the steady “chief operating officer” of their busy household, while Adam has been the family’s sole breadwinner & dad joke provider.
Adam’s heart has always been big. Sadly, it is now also very sick. His heart failure has progressed to the point that he has entered hospice care. In a brave and deeply loving decision, Adam has chosen to spend his remaining time at home with his family.
Those of us who have worked alongside Adam know how many lives he has touched. Now it is our turn to support him and the people he loves most.
Funds raised will help bring additional support into the home for Adam and Amy during this difficult time, ensure continuity for their children in the programs and services they rely on, and help cover essential household expenses that disability benefits cannot fully meet.
Adam has spent his life caring for others. Let’s come together to lift up his family and surround them with the same care, generosity, and compassion he has shown to so many.
