We’re coming together to support our friend, Aaron Schmidt, during an incredibly difficult time. He has been diagnosed with marginal zone lymphoma, a form of cancer that has formed in his head. He will be undergoing chemotherapy for the next six months.

During this time, he will be unable to work for at least two months, and then he will be assessed on his condition to determine whether he can return to work in a limited fashion. He is the sole income provider for his household, and while he does have employment insurance disability coverage, it covers only 55% of earnings and therefore unfortunately does not come close to covering basic living expenses. Between rent/mortgage, utilities, groceries, medical costs, and everyday bills, numerous trips to Calgary and Regina for medical care that isn’t provided in Saskatoon, the financial strain is significant—on top of the physical and emotional toll of cancer treatment.

This fundraiser is meant to help bridge that gap so he can focus on what truly matters right now: his health and recovery, not how he’s going to make ends meet.

Every contribution—no matter the amount—will go directly toward:

• Medical and treatment-related costs

• Reducing financial stress during chemotherapy and recovery
