Overview
- This GoFundMe campaign aims to raise funds for the growth of an online Canadian bookstore dedicated exclusively to books written and created by Black authors. The initiative seeks to amplify Black voices, celebrate diverse storytelling, and provide readers across Canada with access to literature that reflects the richness of Black experiences and perspectives.
Mission
- The mission of the bookstore is to create a sustainable platform that promotes, distributes, and celebrates works by Black authors. By offering a curated selection of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, and children’s books, the store will serve as both a cultural hub and a resource for readers seeking authentic representation in literature.
Funds raised through this campaign will support:
- Website Development: Sustaining a user-friendly, accessible, and visually engaging e-commerce platform.
- Inventory Acquisition: Purchasing initial stock from independent Black authors and publishers.
- Marketing and Outreach: Promoting the bookstore through social media, community partnerships, and literary events.
- Operational Costs: Covering packaging, shipping, and administrative expenses
- Author Support Programs: Creating initiatives to spotlight emerging Black writers
This project will:
- Increase visibility and sales for Black Canadian authors.
