Help Our Friends’ Little Angel Fight Neuroblastoma

About a month ago, our dear friends received the most devastating news any parent could imagine. Their beautiful 22-month-old daughter, Kiara, was diagnosed with a high-risk form of Neuroblastoma cancer.

This little angel is their only child — their whole world — and watching her endure this has been heartbreaking. Both parents have been by her side around the clock, unable to work as they focus entirely on caring for her and supporting her through this unimaginable journey.

How It All Began

It all started one day when her parents rushed her to the emergency room with a high fever. During the check-up — which included blood work and an ultrasound — doctors discovered a lump above her kidney. That moment changed everything.

They were immediately referred to SickKids Hospital in Toronto and told to pack up and leave the next day. After a biopsy and an MIBG scan, the diagnosis was confirmed: Neuroblastoma cancer.

Her Courageous Battle

Since then, this brave little girl has been fighting hard. She stopped eating and lost a lot of weight, so doctors placed a nasogastric (NG) feeding tube through her nose to help her get the nutrients she needs.

Right now, she’s so fragile that the doctors are concerned about how she’ll tolerate the chemotherapy. She will need five rounds of chemotherapy before surgery can even be considered. As well as, post-surgery, she will still face at least 18 months of therapy — including chemotherapy, radiation, and possibly a stem cell transplant.
