Supporting Amber
Donation protected
Please consider helping one of our own, a Hampton Bays local. At just 33-years old, Amber Homfeld-Velasquez has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Amber is a former Hampton Bays athlete & graduate. She is a young mother of two beautiful children with a loving, supportive husband by her side.
As a result of her diagnosis, Amber is out of work with no benefits and does not qualify for FMLA. Currently, Amber is home recovering from a double mastectomy and her family is feeling the financial pressure of life happening around them as they focus on her healing.
“One of the most overwhelming things about all of this is that life doesn't stop once you're told you have cancer. You still have to go to work, you still have to take care of your kids, your bills don't go away and they just get worse because now you have medical debt.”
Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women, aside from skin cancer. In 2022, it is estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers.
All donations will go directly to Amber’s family to support them in this time of need. Every little bit helps - thank you!
