  • Hello. My name is Paul. I have many Ukrainian friends. I have been to Ukraine 5 times. Ukraine is a wonderful country with many wonderful citizens. I feel inspired to go to Ukraine again, to volunteer. This feeling has been strengthened after reading about the death in Russian captivity of respected Ukrainian Journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna. There were signs on her body that she had been extensively tortured, whilst in Russian captivity. Then murdered. Probably by strangulation. I spoke with Viktoriia in Kyiv train station in 2022. She spoke with me about some of the important investigative journalism work that she was doing in Crimea and the Russian occupied territories in the East of Ukraine. Regarding human rights abuses and war crimes there. Including the mass abduction of Ukrainian children. She seemed to me to be a very courageous, kind, intelligent and determined person. I plan to go to Kyiv in her honour in April 2026. To deliver a painting to Ukrainska Pravda, with painting artist Anna Sirosh and friend of Viktoriia, journalist Maria Romanenko. Also to volunteer there in a humanitarian manner. I will pay for my own food, transport to and back and whilst within Ukraine and accomodation in Ukraine. I would like to raise some more money for framing and posting out to Kherson and areas of Kyiv, of framed print descriptions, of Viktoriia Roshchyna's journalistic / investigative work, in the occupied territories of Ukraine . Written by Maria. For many to see, read and remember Viktoriia and her important work . To accompany the paintings and prints. Also for framed prints of the message, to come to the UK and go to Canada. Possibly USA also. To inspire others on the path of truth, peace and freedom. To honour Viktoriia and those like her, who stand up to bullies, dictators, oppressors, aggressors and human rights abusers. Who stand against war, military invasion, imperialism, fascism, torture, cruelty and barbarity. To also remember other journalists across the world who risk and sometimes lose their lives, reporting from war zones. A musician friend of mine , who stands up for his fellow humans and animals, inspired me recently when he sang live the song "If we tolerate this our children will be next." This could still well turn to still be true. All amounts donated will be gratefully received and go directly to the charitable art project named above. Thank you for giving your time to read this.
