Support for Shalav and family

Donation protected
Shalav Mehta is a Senior Clinician at our headspace Penrith site. He works on the Youth Early Psychosis Program, and has been with us since May 2015.

Less than a week ago, Shalav’s wife was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer which has moved to the brain.

It was an incredibly sudden and unexpected diagnosis, and was obviously a huge shock and upset for Shalav and his family. Shalav and his wife have a little girl, Siona, who's 1.5 years old.

Shalav's wife is due to be moved to a hospice this week, and her family have come from New Zealand to stay with her there.

When Shalav asked us to share this news with the Penrith team, it was met with an incredible outpouring of support. Many people said they'd like to help Shalav, and asked if we were taking up a collection.

To this end, we've created this Go Fund Me campaign as a place staff can show their care to this young family by making a financial contribution.

Shalav's wife has not been able to work for a while, her family have incurred costs in travelling from NZ to stay with her here, and there will be upcoming medical and funeral costs. I know Shalav appreciates the care he’s been shown, and we will continue to provide him with every support as an organisation.
