Jakob Oliver is a 9 month old charmer. Jakon was born perfectly healthy. In the middle of April Jakob suffered a seizure that sent him to the ER. Doctors thought he contracted Influenza B which caused the seizure. Jakob was airlifted to Maria Fareri Childrens Hospital 3+ hours from home. An MRI confirmed that Jakob suffered a stroke and has blood clots in his brain. Jakob was recovering nicely and was seizure free for a week and was discharged. Not 12 hours later Jakob suffered another seizure affecting the other side of his body. Jakob was airlifted back to MFCH. Doctors now thought that Jakob was suffering from Mitochondrial disease, specifically POLG mitochondrial mutation. Jakob's diagnosis is still undetermined. Jakob's family is devastated. They are hours from home, hours from family and just want answers for their son. I am optimistic that this page can accumulate some funds to help with Jakob's accumulating medical expenses as well as money for transportation for the family.
