If you don't believe in "soul mates", the relationship that Cameron and Lacey had would make you believe. Lacey and Cameron had been together for nearly 18 years! In 2011, they got married and in 2014 brought a sweet, smart and crazy little boy named Logan into the world. The love and devotion they had for each other was admired by everyone.
In summer of 2016, when Cameron was diagnosed with stage 4 cholangiocarcinoma, their world was turned upside down. Nobody understood how a healthy 29-year-old man could be faced with this situation.
Lacey was always at Cameron’s side during his fight with cancer. She not only kept him strong with her positivity and unconditional love, but made sure that she took the time off work for every chemotherapy, immunotherapy, blood draw and whatever else the doctors threw at him. She remained strong for Cameron and her busy little man, attempting to keep things as normal as possible for him. Their goal was to make sure that Logan remained happy, loved and didn't take on the stress of the situation they were dealt. Throughout the nearly two years of treatment, they were able to create many beautiful family memories but eventually there did come a time when Cameron didn’t have the strength to do the things he would have liked to with Logan. He fought so hard and was put through so much during his treatment, but on Tuesday morning after a long fight with aggressive treatment and trying everything they could, Cameron lost his battle with cancer.
It is absolutely heart breaking for everyone that knows him to accept. The pain that his family now must face is unimaginable. Although nobody can say or do much to take their hurt away, I am hoping that by raising money to support his family, it will at least take some of the stress off Lacey's shoulders and allow her to take the time needed to grieve. The money raised can help pay for things ranging from buying groceries to paying off the endless medical bills. I know a lot of people have asked how they can help them out in this time and my sister is the last person to ask for help from others, but I know this would be a huge relief and one less thing for them to worry about. Anything you can give will be so appreciated.
