wie vermutlich viele mitbekommen haben, hat der neue Präsident Trump innerhalb der ersten Wochen und Monate schon viele sogenannte Hilfsgelder gestrichen oder gekürzt, unter anderem für die USAID.

Diese Streichungen und Kürzungen von Projekt- und Fördergeldern sind nicht nur abstrakte Zahlen, sondern haben auch ganz konkrete Auswirkungen für Menschen.

Wir (Noa, Jim, Lykke und Philipp) haben letztes Jahr im Juli 2024 auf der Welt-Aids-Konferenz in München im Global Village, dem öffentlichen Teil der Konferenz mit den Nichtregierungsorganisationen, Edgar aus Uganda kennengelernt. Edgar ist ein tauber Mensch, der im Nachbarland beim Gehörlosenverband Ruanda in einem von der USAID geförderten Projekt gearbeitet hat und dort Aufklärung zu sexuellen Themen und HIV gemacht hat - speziell auch für taube Menschen.

Die Gelder für dieses Projekt wurden von Trump gestrichen und Edgar kann nun nicht mehr bezahlt arbeiten.

Um Geld für sich und seine Familie zu verdienen möchte Edgar sich nun mit einem Taxi selbständig machen und braucht für den Kauf eines gebrauchten Kleinbusses 5.000 Euro. Taxi zu fahren ist eine der wenigen und gängigen Arten für taube Menschen in Uganda und anderen afrikanischen Ländern zu arbeiten und Geld zu verdienen, weil der 1. Arbeitsmarkt für sie meistens sehr unzugänglich ist. Zudem würde es ihm auch ermöglichen mit dem Bus auch an viele Orte in z.B. ganz Ostafrika zu fahren und dort weiterhin Aufklärungsarbeit zu leisten. Die Bildungsmöglichkeiten für taube Menschen sind eh eingeschränkt, und zum Thema Sexualität als tabuisiertes Thema nochmal mehr.

Hier kommt ihr ins Spiel. Edgar selbst hat das Geld nicht, sich einen solchen Kleinbus zu kaufen und wir versuchen ihn darin zu unterstützen, indem wir um Spenden bitten für die Anschaffungskosten eines Kleinbusses. Die hier eingesammelten Spenden gehen erstmal auf das Konto von Philipp und werden von da an Edgar überwiesen, da Uganda kein Land ist, in das direkt mit gofundme gespendet werden kann.

Stand heute (22.03.2025) sind durch private Spenden schon 1045€ zusammen gekommen. Dieses Geld haben wir heute (31.03.2025) auf die gofundme-Seite überwiesen, damit transparent ist, wie viel Geld insgesamt eingegangen ist.

Leider können wir bei dieser Spendensammlung keine Spendenquittungen ausstellen, da wir keinen Verein haben, über den wir die Spenden einsammeln können, sondern auf privater Basis.

International Sign als auch teilweise Transkriptionen der Videos in deutscher und englischer Schriftsprache. Dear all, Hello everyone,

As many of you have surely seen/heard, the new President Trump has already cancelled or cut many so-called aid funds within the first few weeks and months of his administration, including for USAID.

These cancellations and cuts in project funds are not just abstract figures, but also have a very concrete impact on people.

We (Noa, Jim, Lykke and Philipp) met Edgar from Uganda last year in July 2024 at the World AIDS Conference in Munich, in the Global Village, which is the public part of the conference with the non-governmental organisations. Edgar is a deaf person who worked in the neighbouring country in a USAID-funded project with the Rwanda Association of the Deaf, where he provided education on sexual topics and HIV - especially for deaf people.

The funding for this project was cancelled by Trump, and Edgar can no longer work for pay.

To earn money for himself and his family, Edgar now wants to start his own taxi business and needs 5,000 euros to buy a second-hand minibus. Driving a taxi is a common, and one of the few possible ways for deaf people in Uganda and other African countries to work and earn money, because the primary labour market is usually very inaccessible for them. It would also enable him to travel by bus to many places throughout East Africa, for example, and continue his educational work there. Educational opportunities for deaf people are limited anyway, and even more so when it comes to sexuality as a taboo subject.

This is where you come in! Edgar himself does not have the money to buy such a minibus and we are trying to support him by asking for donations him to purchase a minibus. The donations collected here will first go to Philipp's account and will be transferred to Edgar from there, as Uganda is not a country to which donations can be made directly via gofundme.

As of today (22 March 2025), €1045 has already been collected through private donations. We transferred this money to this website today (31 March 2025) so it's transparent how much money we raised in total.

Unfortunately, we cannot issue donation receipts for this fundraiser as we do not have an officially registered association through which we can collect the money.
