Emergency Legal Funding For Desi

Desi herself, asks for nothing and yet she is in an emergency situation and I'm taking it upon myself to reach out on her behalf.

The father of her six year old son, who has had no legal rights established through the courts, has made an unfathomable attack upon her:  He filed an order of protection (ex-parte order) against her alleging such devastating things that within eight hours of filing it, the police took her son and handed him to this man.

The man alleged that Desi hit her son in the face and kicked her son while the man was attempting to protect the boy.  He alleged she threatened her son's life, the man's life and the life of the man's girlfriend, violently burglarized his home, breaking doors in the process.  He further alleged that she is schizophrenic, bipolar, uses drugs and is extremely violent.  He asked the presiding judge to grant him immediate custody of the child and to make a ruling for sole custody at the upcoming April 2nd hearing and require her to furnish him with child support.

In previous emails to her from this man has stated:

". . . your about to push a boulder down a hill and youre not gonna be able to put it back:."

" . . . if that's not good enough and you feel you need to fuck around, then I can show you what asshole really looks like"

" . . . my opinion is that you should slow down and stop making demands.  If you really want to push the button today, i cant stop you, but it's red for a reason."

". . . you have lit my fuse with it now, and it's getting short."

"If you don't get yourself under control and stay in the lines, this comfy arrangement will end."

"Stop circumventing me, stop calling my family to arrange things, stop sneaking things into his backpack for school, stop calling and emailing the teachers making arrangements without telling me what and when your doing it.   stop it all now.   any of it happens again, this is over!"

Desi has nearly completed nursing school, works part-time and lives with her mother.  Strangely, her car recently became disabled--but she continues on by carpooling to school and work.

Desi would not ask for this help on her own, but I have personally known her for more than six years and watched her survive, move onto college online while babysitting for a living and move on to nursing school.

After having her son torn from her home, watching him cry and call her name, I don't know how she's able, but she had this to say to me today,

"I HAVE to go to clinicals today. I can't let _____ undermine that, this is my only chance at a better life for my family - I HAVE to go. Nothing can be done this morning that won't keep until this afternoon."

If he succeeds in obtaining any part of this order-of-protection, her ability to obtain her nursing license after school may be in jeopardy.  She needs an advocate to help her defend her motherhood and her family's future.

She has faith.  Please help her help herself.
