At his mother's request and doctors' approval, David and his family went to South Korea to seek help from mesothelioma specialists. But soon after he arrived, David immediately underwent open heart surgery because the tumor in his heart grew at an alarming rate. Following the surgery, David started chemotherapy for pleural (lung) mesothelioma because doctors believe this is the best option for him right now.
David will only finish his chemotherapy if a CT scan shows that there is a positive effect. Otherwise, specialists will have to look into experimental treatment options and/or a heart transplant.
Despite this difficult trial, David continues to cling to God. He asks his sister to read the Bible to him every day in the hospital, and also shares that God has been teaching him about gratitude and humility. When his family members seem sad or worried, he tries to cheer them up with his lighthearted and playful personality.
We can learn from David to cling onto God, even in difficult trials. We can also help his family during this tough time by donating right now to financially assist them for their medical bills that insurance cannot fully cover (chemotherapy, hospital stay bills, potential heart transplant, potential experimental treatment) as well as give his family in the US an opportunity to visit David in South Korea. Any financial donation is greatly appreciated.
Please spread the word and support David in his fight against cancer!
"To all who are supporting David and our family through your prayers, love, and/or finances:
Thank you so much for blessing us with your support. Even in the midst of all the crazy things we have been going through, we cannot deny the grace of God we've witnessed in being shown Christ's love in a deeper way through all our family and friends' support. I can't express HOW grateful David, I, and the rest of the family are to each and every one of you. "
