Help rebuild Chiapas after quake

As most of you know, several large scale earthquakes hit Mexico during September, 2017. One of these seriously impacted communities across Chiapas. We are fundraising to help people rebuild their homes and communities in the San Cristobal de las Casas area (where we lived together in Mexico) and Benito Juarez (Juan's town.) The funds will be distributed to community members and community leaders that we know personally, who are working to assist people with earthquake response.

Please consider making a donation between $5 - $50. Of course, if you can donate more than $50, that's wonderful too!

These funds will be transferred to Juan's US bank account as a pass-through, and then they will be distributed to two different destinations in Mexico.

1) Roughly one third of the funds will be sent by bank transfer to Los Amigos de San Cristobal, directed by Ana Cristina Sánchez Carpizo. Los Amigos is a community based NGO that works on capacity building efforts in the Altos of Chiapas. See their website:

2) The rest of the funds will be sent to community members in Juan's town (Benito Juarez, de la Concordia, Chiapas) who have been directly affected by the earthquake. Juan's contacts in Benito Juarez know the families personally who have had damage to their homes.

In gratitude,
Juan Mejia and Erin Krauss
